Summertime is festival time. All over the world, especially here in Europe, cool festivals transform their location into small towns – be it a familiar get-together or a big event. Going to a festival with your friends is like a little adventure holiday. One essential aspect of every festival is canned food. In Germany for example canned ravioli is the number one festival food and it can be seen all over a festival’s area. But cans do not only enter festivals filled with food, but as part of events and sometimes even as the happening itself. Here are some events you should keep in mind when planning your next trip:

Every Can Counts at the Electric Love Festival

Every summer in Salzburg it’s all about EDM, Dubstep, Electro and House. But at Austria’s biggest festival for electronic music it’s not just about party and dancing but also about the importance of recycling. In 2017 the initiative called Every Cans Counts started at the Electric Love Festival. At a big counter the visitors could play a virtual reality game and experience recycling in an entertaining way. There was even a little contest for the games highscore. In addition to the game, there was plenty of information about the recycling process and its benefits.

Happiness in Cans at the Rock Harz Festival

A Metal festival, like the Rock Harz in Ballenstedt, Germany is always a place for lot of beverage cans. Hard music, cool beer, a perfect weekend. The organisers came up with a simple but very cool idea. As Germany has a deposit of 25 cents on beverage cans, every can is not only worth its endlessly recyclable resources but real money. So the organisers started to ask the visitors to return their cans instead of collecting them or throwing them away. With different actions like funny stickers or a tombola with cool prices, they got the attention of the people and over 60.000 collected cans in 2017, for instance. The deposit for these cans (in numbers: €16.800) were used to support local projects for disadvantaged children. Since 2013, about 19.000 cans (= €49.000) have been collected. This makes the visit of the Rockharz not just fun, but charitable, too.

AmeriCAN Canned Craft Beer Festival

This April the 8th annual ameriCAN Canned Craft Beer Festival took place in Phoenix, USA. With more than 250 canned craft beers from over 100 local and national breweries across 40 states, it’s one of the biggest beer festivals in the world. But it isn’t only about canned beer, also live music, good food, a beer science garden, seminars and even beer Olympic games contribute to the atmosphere. As the contest for the best beer of the year starts some weeks before, the festival also features the price-giving for nine categories including IPA, American Pale Ale, English Pale Ale, Wheat Beers, Stouts and Porters, Ambers and Browns, Golds, Blondes, Pilsners, Light Lagers, Fruit and Speciality beer.

Our Favourite Beverage Container ♥

Of course, there are even more reasons why cans and festivals are a dream team. Since glass bottles are prohibited at most festivals, cans are the best beverage container to go for. Additionally, brands like to launch special editions of their drinks specifically designed for festivals. A recent example is Red Bull. In collaboration with Live Nation and their festival partners, they have come up with limited edition UV cans. These cans are meant to bring an energetic festival performance to life and feature the wristbands of the five participating festivals. Beverage cans that match the festival and its music, mood or people can help improve the festival experience even more and provide a nice little extra to the enjoyment.

We think: Cans and festivals belong together. But what’s your stance on this? Leave us a comment in the section below!
